The Honda CB 1000 Hornet is the new flagship of the popular Hornet series and complements the existing 500 and 750 models with a powerful top-of-the-range variant. With an attractive starting price of around €9,700, it offers impressive value for money and appeals to a broad target group in the naked bike segment. As a strategically important volume model, it combines sporty performance with a fair price – ideal for anyone who expects a lot of motorcycle for their money.
Standard chassis with potential for optimisation
However, the standard chassis of the CB 1000 Hornet has a few weaknesses:
- Front fork: The negative spring travel is too high, which means that an unnecessary amount of spring travel is wasted. In addition, the factory damping is very low.
- Rear shock absorber: Despite the specified suspension travel of 138 mm, the shock absorber feels excessively hard and uncomfortable.
Our chassis optimisation – comfort and control redefinedIn order to exploit the full potential of the CB 1000 Hornet, we have specifically revised the chassis:
- Front fork: progressive Wilbers Zero Friction fork springs in combination with our Zero Friction fork oil and adjustment of the air chamber for greater effectiveness and balanced damping.
- Shock absorber: use of a softer spring with optimised rebound and compression damping. At the same time, we increase the suspension travel by 15 mm – while maintaining the same seat height.
The result:
noticeably more comfortable and significantly more precise handling. Thanks to our chassis setup, the CB 1000 Hornet not only gains in riding comfort, but also in sporty dynamics – ideal for everyday use and cornering fun alike.
